Organif Farming
Organic farming, agricultural system mainly uses natural fertilizers derived largely from plant wastes and nitrogen-fixing cover crops. It involves zero or minimum tilling of the land and considers weed as natural manure. This method aims at reducing harm caused by the use of chemical pesticides and synthetic fertilizers in conventional agriculture, and it has numerous ecological as well as economical benefits.
Organic production has been practiced in India since stone age. From that time, the organic practices in India have undergone enormous changes in addition to green revolution. Pesticides and chemical usage are rampant in Indian agriculture, causing water and soil contamination. There is a need for verification that products are indeed produced according to certain standards. Thus, the organic certification industry also evolved.
More than 40 private organizations and state agencies certify organic food. But their standards for growing and labeling organic food may differ.
Food quality, affordability, health and safety are the primary concerns of Indian consumers today. The growing environmental and food safety concerns have created a significant demand for yield from green and sustainable cultivation methods. Modern farming methods often lead to biodiversity loss and mono-culture, which are huge factors in the environment’s decline.
